This summer, ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s Veterans and the Arts Initiative, based at the Hylton Center, received two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ’s Veterans and the Arts Initiative—an important example of George Mason’s long-standing commitment to assisting military-connected learners as they embark on new paths following their service.

The evening raised $162,500 and featured a cocktail reception, dinner on Merchant Hall Stage, special tributes to Honorees Marion Wall and Dominion Energy, a lively after-party, and more.

The Hylton Performing Arts Center hosted a special two-day celebration with the 12th Anniversary Gala on April 29 and 30. The first Anniversary Gala held in-person since 2019, the event welcomed more than 1,000 guests and supported the Hylton Center’s mission of presenting diverse performances and programs of high quality and artistic excellence to inspire, educate, and enrich the community.

Dr. Niyati Dhokai, the Director of the Veterans and the Arts Initiative Program at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ talks in this podcast about how effective music therapy is for Veterans returning from active duty, battling PTSD and other injuries, and how their families and children benefit from these sessions.
